Gardai appeal to motorists to avoid busy Limerick road due to heavy snowfall

GARDAI in Newcastle West have appealed to motorists to avoid the N21 Newcastle West to Abbeyfeale road.

Gardai are reporting a number of incidents along the Limerick to Kerry route this Thursday morning due to heavy snowfall in the area overnight.

A number of areas along the route from Newcastle West to the Kerry border are at a standstill at present.

A number of trucks have jackknifed and a number of cars have left the road due to the snow and ice.

Among the worst areas are Healys Cross at Dillane's Shop on the Kerry side of Abbeyfeale, Templeglantine village and Barna.
