Gardai attend protest over smarter travel measures in Limerick

GARDAI were called to the scene of a protest against planned smarter travel work on the northside of Limerick.

Work was halted at the junction of Mayorstone and Shelbourne Road yesterday.

The proposed project being delivered by Limerick Council's Active Travel team are designed to provide a safe route to school.

Works include the widening of footpaths and are designed to facilitate children at Gaelscoil Sáirséal walking and cycling safely to school.

Limerick Live has approached the council for comment.
