GARDAÍ are investigating a spate of thefts across County Limerick.

Sergeant Michelle O Halloran, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station said:

"We’ve had a couple of reports of catalytic converters being stolen from vehicles in recent days. The first one was in the Drombanna area. In the early hours of the morning on the 16th of January, around quarter past one, a male reported that the catalytic converter had been taken from his vehicle while it was parked at his home."

Gardaí from Roxboro Road Garda Station are investigating this incident.

Sgt O'Halloran added that there was another theft from a vehicle in Kilmallock.

"On the 14th of January, before 4am, a male reported that his catalytic converter was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked outside his premises on Lord Edward Street in Kilmallock. Gardaí in Kilmallock are carrying out enquiries in relation to that theft."

The local crime prevention officer also detailed how a vehicle was recovered after being stolen in Abbeyfeale.

"Overnight on the 16th of January, in the Killarney Road area of Abbeyfeale, a female reported that her car was stolen. The vehicle was a grey 2011 registered Renault Megane. She had parked it outside her house at about half past eleven that night. When she got up around half five in the morning, the car was gone."

Sgt O'Halloran concluded: "In this case, the vehicle had been left unlocked, with the keys inside the car. Gardaí in Abbeyfeale are investigating that incident. The vehicle was recovered on the 17th January in Parteen."
