The Mary Wallopers have announced a surprise performance at a pub in Limerick city

THE wildly-popular Dundalk traditional music group , The Mary Wallopers, are due to play Charlie Malone’s pub on Wolfe Tone Street in the city centre this Wednesday night.

The surprise performance will be the second date on their ‘Guerilla Tour of Ireland’, an ongoing series of performances in small venues across the country.

The band will play four shows this week, with venue locations being revealed via Instagram on the day of each show.

The Mary Wallopers are regulars of ‘Charlies’, describing the venue in a video posted to social media as “a little pub where we spent many a late night.”

Tickets for the Limerick gig were released via Instagram at 11am this Wednesday and sold out in 10 minutes.

Tuesday’s gig at Ballinamore in Leitrim sold out in under 5 minutes.

The tour comes in anticipation of their third studio album release, ‘Paddywhackery’ , a raucous rebel-folk record carrying tracks such as ‘Landlord’s Demise’ and ‘Crowns of England’.

The track “Cod Liver Oil & The Orange Juice” from their debut EP has over 10 million streams on Spotify, ranking alongside their rendition of ‘Eileen Óg’, which they performed live on the Late Late Show in 2023.

The group consists of central duo Andrew and Charles Hendy, alongside an extensive live band including bassist Róisín Barrett and drummer Ken Mooney.

The ‘Hendy brothers’ founded the band with guitarist Seán McKenna , who departed the group in 2025 to work on solo projects.

The event is sold out. Non-ticket holders are encouraged not to attend as the front doors to the venue will be locked.
