Hurler hospitalised after sustaining 'serious injuries' during Limerick club fixture

A YOUNG GAA player is being treated in hospital for ‘serious injuries’ following an incident that happened during a club hurling match in County Limerick at the weekend.
The intermediate hurling championship fixture, between Croom and Feohanagh/Castlemahon in Ballingarry, was near its completion on Sunday afternoon when a ‘non-malicious’ collision occurred on the field.
One of the young players, believed to have been on the Croom team, sustained serious injuries and received medical attention on the pitch.
While an air ambulance was initially requested to attend the GAA pitch, it was later stood down as the player was taken to hospital by ambulance.
It is understood he remains in hospital and that his condition is stable.
