BOHER was buzzing for its annual charity cycle in memory of Limerick girl Ciara McCarthy.
The seven-year-old tragically died 10 years ago in 2013 after a long illness bravely borne.
A cycle was started in Boher to honour Ciara’s memory and raise money for Cliona’s Foundation which helped the McCarthy family.
The June event is now a fixture in the local calendar and up to 150 men, women and children braved the heat to take part in the 40km cycle - there were shorter routes available so all fitness levels could take part.
A fantastic sum of €4,185 was raised during the event for Cliona's with more money pledged. This exceeded all expectations of the organisers in Boher Community Development Association which is headed up by Pat O'Connell.
The cyclists returned to Boher Community Centre afterwards where they were fed and, especially, watered, by the ladies committee.
The organisers thank all who participated and made contributions, marshalls, stewards, Red Cross, community gardai, Johnny Skehan and Herbie Power and the ladies committee. Roll on 2024.
