THE LIMERICK flag flew proudly in London over the weekend as the British capital's annual St Patrick's Day parade took place.
Tens of thousands of people took advantage of a fine day weather-wise to march through central London for the event, which was celebrating its landmark 20th anniversary.
Among the Limerick contingent taking part were Caherdavin native John Giltenan, who is the secretary of the Council of Irish County Associations, plus Sophie Roberts, whose family hail from Ashford, and Willie Moone who can trace his ancestry back to Newcastle West.
They were joined by Ballyneety native Kathleen Sheridan, who is the chief executive of Lewisham's Irish Centre in south-east London.
There was a Limerick political presence in the shape of Sinn Fein TD Maurice Quinlivan, who formerly lived cross-channel.
And the government were represented by Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys.
There was a host of walking groups, marching bands, floats and displays.
The event's grand marshal was Catherina Casey of Blarney, Co Cork, who is a very active member of London's Irish community.
