Joy in Castlemahon as village hosts first-ever St Patrick's Day parade
HUNDREDS of people gathered in Castlemahon this Friday afternoon for the village's first-ever St Patrick’s Day parade.
The festivities were in full swing at 3pm with over 30 floats taking to the main street to showcase their Paddy's joy.
Excitement was in the air as anticipation built, with a huge green John Deere tractor taking centre stage to kick off the parade.
There was action and excitement as people in vintage cars, trucks and even a horse and cart were throwing sweets to the crowds, with little hands popping up everywhere.
Chants, song and dance filled the street while the parade was on, with face painting and ceilís underway afterwards at the main stage next to Mahoonagh school.
Well done to all organisers and participants in their first parade - they have promised one for 'next year' already!
