Limerick artist launches 'magical' children’s book set in the Burren

The book is 'a journey of magic, friendship and adventure'
MAGIC is in the air as renowned Limerick artist and author, Una Heaton announces the launch of her new children’s book The Craggie Clan, Guardians of the Burren.
This eagerly anticipated book will be officially launched at the Bunratty Tea Rooms, within the historical Bunratty Folk Park, on Friday, September 27 at 3:30pm.
Una Heaton, celebrated for her vibrant paintings of Ireland’s stunning coastlines and her skills in calligraphy, has poured her creativity and love for Irish folklore into this “magical tale”.
The Craggie Clan, Guardians of the Burren “breathes life” into the mystical Burren through a “captivating” tale, watercolour illustrations, and a fun family activity.
This story is set against the rugged beauty of the Burren and blends adventure, folklore, nature, and the power of kindness and teamwork.
The book transports children’s imaginations away from busy cities and towns to a rocky landscape in the west of Ireland, where a group of tiny stone creatures live.
An ancient spell has kept them trapped deep underground for thousands of years, and three brave children set out on an incredible adventure to rescue them. As their adventure unfolds, the children learn that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a great impact, and discover that teamwork is the most powerful magic of all.
“Influenced by the rugged, untamed beauty and the rich tapestry of the myths of Ireland, The Craggie Clan, Guardians of the Burren is a story that has been in my heart for years. It’s a journey of magic, friendship and adventure inspired by my grandchildren,” shared Una.
“I have known Una since she was Una Lynch and we were growing up together in Limerick. In this exquisite book about the Burren, she has brought the power of her creative imagination to provide young children with a pictorial explanation of the unique landscape of that Craggie Place and the magical plants that live in its fissures and crevasses. Una has beautifully illustrated her story to bring the ancient history of the Burren to life,” commented Bill Whelan, Grammy award winning composer and producer.
At the launch, attendees can enjoy an exclusive book reading, a meet & greet session, goodie bags, and a book signing opportunity with Una.
Admission to the launch is free but limited. Tickets can be reserved at lu.ma.
