COUNCILLORS in Limerick have agreed to transfer two parcels of land from its own ownership to that of Irish Rail.

At the July meeting of the council, members approved the sale to the semi-State rail company for the sum of €1.

The precise location of the two portions of land is unclear.

But they will, no doubt, have been purchased by Irish Rail to facilitate its train line, part of which runs parallel to Childers Road.

This covers the line which connects Galway and Ennis to Limerick.

According to a briefing note presented to councillors, the party for whom the land was initially purchased from is unknown.

The two parcels of land are 0.022 acres and 0.012 acres apiece.
