Council members heading to Analog Devices as one of Limerick's largest employers marks 50 years in business

NEXT month's meeting of Limerick's metropolitan district is to take place at Analog Devices in Raheen.

It comes after councillors green-lit plans to go on location to the firm, which is marking its golden anniversary in Limerick this year.

Founded in 1976 as a 13-person start-up operating from a small unit developed by the then Shannon Free Airport Development Company (SFADCO), the company has grown into a major research, development and manufacturing hub.

Today, it employs more than 1,800 people locally.

The April meeting will be held in Analog Device's Catalyst building, an innovation and collaboration centre, opened by Taoiseach Micheál Martin back in 2022.

Metropolitan district leader, Cllr Daniel Butler said: "For 50 years, Analog Devices has been part of the fabric of Limerick. Across the city and county, almost everyone knows a family member, friend or neighbour who has worked there at some point. The company has provided high-quality employment for generations and has played a huge role in shaping the Mid-West’s reputation as a centre for technology and innovation. It will be a real privilege for us to hold our April meeting on site and recognise the enormous contribution the company has made to Limerick over the past five decades.”

Councillors have indicated a desire to hold future metropolitan district meetings at other key locations across the city.
