Limerick council’s new campaign to energise summer tourism

‘Limerick has an attractive blend of scenic countryside and urban excitement’
THE CITY and county is ready to embrace domestic tourism this summer with the council's launch of Limerick: A Different Kind of Energy campaign.
The digital and traditional media campaign aims to inspire, intrigue, and energise visitors by highlighting the endless possibilities that Limerick has to offer.
The hope is to entice tourists to pick Limerick as the location for their summer breaks.
Donn O’Sullivan, head of marketing and communications at Limerick City and County Council, said Limerick has an attractive blend of scenic countryside and urban excitement, making it an ideal visitor destination.
“Whether it is experiencing unmissable gigs and comedy shows, engaging in outdoor adventures like cycling the Limerick Greenway or watersports on the Shannon, or exploring vibrant culture where fine art meets street art, Limerick has something for everyone,” he said.
Over four weeks, the Limerick: A Different Kind of Energy campaign will engage audiences through a variety of promotional activities including dynamic TV advertising, national radio competitions, social media influencer partnerships, comprehensive PR efforts, e-newsletters, and digital marketing.
Additionally, the campaign will feature an exclusive Spotify playlist, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Limerick’s unique atmosphere with a curated all-Treaty soundtrack.
The spotlight will shine on a diverse array of experiences across Limerick city and county, encouraging all Irish people to discover or rediscover hidden gems, said Mr O'Sullivan.
“From recommended brunch spots and family-friendly eateries to relaxing day spas, top tattooists and scenic road trip destinations, there is something to energise every visitor.
“The campaign also highlights Limerick’s rich culinary scene and lively nightlife, with options ranging from Michelin-starred restaurants to cosy pubs and live music venues.
“Visitors can immerse themselves in Limerick’s warmth and hospitality through its events and festivals, enjoying the unique atmosphere that the city and county have to offer,” said Mr O'Sullivan.
The campaign, he says, is designed to position Limerick as a top choice for domestic travel, offering dynamic itineraries and engaging content that appeals to families, groups and individuals.
“The campaign, put together by the marketing and communications team will showcase to all Irish people, who may think they have experienced all there is to offer in Limerick, that there is an endless list of new and compelling experiences for them to rediscover on their next visit,” said Mr O'Sullivan.
