Limerick family takes on mini marathon for Milford Care Centre

The fundraiser is in support of the care centre's 'amazing work'
AMONG the runners in this weekend’s Cook Medical Mini Marathon will be 27-year-old Dylan Moore and several of his family members, as they raise money for Milford Care Centre.
Dylan and his family were so overwhelmed by the care they received when his mother Ann spent her final days in Milford, that they wanted to give back, and, as Dylan said: “It’s going a hell of a lot better than we’d ever expected”.
With an initial goal of €300, their fundraiser has reached €2,257 at time of writing, 90% of their new goal of €2,500.
The Corbally man couldn’t praise the “amazing work they do in Milford Care Centre” highly enough: “We didn’t spend very long in Milford unfortunately - my mam was transferred from the ICU on the Tuesday and passed away on the Thursday - but in those 48 hours or less that we spent there, the things they did for us were just amazing”.
“They made it accessible, they said: ‘If you want to bring the dogs, bring the dogs’. They brought us food every couple of hours, made sure we had what we needed, and made it feel like home for mam in her last few moments,” he continued.
The care didn’t end after their time in Milford, Dylan explained: “People have been in contact since just to ask how we are, to talk about grief counselling, just to see how we’re getting on at home, to advise that there is support available”.
Dylan’s mother, Antoinette ‘Ann’ Moore, passed away aged 49 this past July, after a long battle with cancer.
This fundraiser is “all hands on deck” Dylan explained, with many of his family members taking part in the 5k and 10k races.
