Limerick folk singer set to release new single

NEWCASTLE West folk singer-songwriter, Paul Dunworth is releasing a new poetic song.
Featuring fiddle player Cáit Ní Riain, the new release ‘The Poet as Black Sheep’ will be released on St Patrick’s Day, Friday, March 17.
It is inspired by ‘The Poet as Black Sheep,’ a poem written by Newcastle West poet Michael Hartnett. Written to convey the dark elements of the poem, the piece touches on a man surrounded by family who cannot understand the complexities of a poet’s mind and “will not succumb to their materialistic middle-class values,” and the “Bourgeoisie could not control his head.”
Finishing with a strong line to reinforce a poet’s standing in society, the piece ends with ''This Head is a Poet's head, This Head holds a Galaxy.”
A powerful voice of the Irish contemporary folk scene, Paul mixes passion and melodic guitar accompaniments.
Recorded live at Ed Lynch’s bar in Newcastle West, the track will be released on Bandcamp and YouTube. Paul met “great musician and performer” Cáit through an artist friend of his. Since then, the pair have been collaborating together.
Last December, the Limerick folk singer released another song featuring Cáit Ní Riain, titled ‘Down in the Willow Garden.’
