Limerick general election candidate reports alleged theft of his posters to gardai

Independent Frankie Daly 'disappointed' over incident
INDEPENDENT general election candidate Cllr Frankie Daly has reported the alleged theft of one of his election posters to the gardai.
The northside councillor, who is hoping to make a breakthrough in the Limerick City constituency at this month's election, was "disappointed" to find that an eight-by-four poster advertising his candidacy which had been erected at the junction of Pa Healy Road and Park Road in the city has been removed.
"It's been sabotaged. It is the only poster which was removed from the area," he told Limerick Live.

As an Independent candidate, Cllr Daly says every poster is important, as he only has a limited amount of them.

"It was quite a big poster - it seems to be quite an operation to have it taken away," said the councillor.
A youth worker who ran in the mayoral election, Cllr Daly came forward as he wants to "nip this in the bud".
"If I don't, I mightn't have any posters left. It would be devastating to my campaign otherwise. Every poster is so important to me, particularly getting the good locations and getting the poster up there. It's just a blow," he said.
He's confirmed he's reported the incident to the gardai, but he made an appeal to the person who removed the poster to return it, and he will not take things further.
Conversely, if his posters keep going missing, he said he will continue to raise with gardai.
"With the funding the parties have, I am a minnow by comparison. I am doing the best I can with what I have. I'm recycling posters, I'm trying to keep pace with it all," he added.
Cllr Daly came close to being elected in 2020, when he was edged out to the final seat by Green Party TD Brian Leddin.
Limerick Live has contacted the gardai for comment.
