Limerick girl doodles her way to success

ONE LIMERICK girl is among the winners of a national Google art competition.
Google opened their first office in Dublin in 2003 and to mark 20 years in Ireland, the company launched a competition focusing on a significant addition Google has made to our browsing experience, the Google Doodle.
The competition invited children across Ireland to submit their own doodle creation based on what they think Ireland will look like in 20 years' time.
A total of 20 young winners were selected to attend a Google Doodle masterclass at Google Dublin.
Anna Murphy from Monaleen National School was selected as a winner to attend the Google Doodle workshop in Google, Dublin on Wednesday November 1.
The event brought together primary school children from across the country to learn about doodling from master doodler,
Matthew Cruickshank, art lead at Google who travelled from Santa Fe New Mexico to meet Ireland’s doodlers of the future and give them a taste of what life is like at Google and what it takes to become a master doodler.
Doodles are the fun, surprising and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries and the lives of famous artists, pioneers and scientists.
In 1998, before the company was even incorporated, the concept of the doodle was born when Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin played with the corporate logo.
Now a team of talented illustrators (or doodlers ) and engineers get together regularly to brainstorm and decide which events will be celebrated worldwide with a doodle.
