Limerick housing development gets go-ahead

The development has been given permission by council planners
A HUGE NEW housing development and neighbourhood centre has been given permission by council planners.
Tinwat Holdings has received the green light for its project which will bring 115 new residential units, a 90-bedroom nursing home, plus a cafe and pharmacy.
It represents the second phase of a wider project for the area.
As revealed by the Limerick Leader back in January, the first set of plans, which will see a new private hospital, received the go-ahead in January.
The scheme will be located at Moyross Avenue, on land at the northern end of the estate just off the new Coonagh to Knockalisheen Road.
Of the 73 units given permission as part of the project’s second phase, 34 of these will be two-storey, three-bedroomed.
Six will be four-bedroomed over two-storeys, and a further six will be four-bedroomed across three floors.
A further 27 three-storey three-bed units are planned.
They will be joined by a four-storey neighbourhood centre.
In this will be a 42 two-bed apartment block with a communal roof garden designed exclusively for the elderly.
A chemist with a drive-through dispensary window, a coffee shop and a convenience retail unit are also part of the development.
The developer has previously said the nursing home, to be run by Mowlam Healthcare, is expected to employ 90 people once complete.
The new hospital, which will be run by UPMC will bring 200 new positions.
Construction is expected t0 kick off this summer, developers have told council.
It’s expected it will take place in five phases, with the 90-bed nursing home being the final step.
Council planners gave the go-ahead to the development subject to 34 conditions. This includes a stipulation that 10% of parking spots be available for electric cars.
