Limerick hurler and his soon-to-be-bride celebrate their stag and hen

The popular couple are set to wed in September

THE COUNTDOWN to the big day is well and truly on for star Limerick hurler William O’Donoghue and artist Gemma Cowen, who celebrated in style with their respective stag and hen parties at the weekend.

William headed to the land of the All-Ireland football champions Mayo with friends, including many of his All-Ireland winning teammates, to celebrate his upcoming nuptials.

He was pictured with Cian Lynch and Kyle Hayes at Máire Lukes Bar and Restaurant in Tourmakeady, Mayo.

Several of the Limerick Senior Hurling Panel were also pictured in Toby’s Bar, Westport, as part of the celebrations in honour of the Na Piarsaigh man.

The ladies, meanwhile, headed to the midlands and to Old Warehouse in Tullamore, Offaly, which happens to be co-owned by golfer Shane Lowry. Gemma of course is a native of Offaly and is the daughter of Fianna Fáil MEP Barry Cowen.

Glamorous Gemma looked gorgeous in a variety of white outfits across the weekend, paired with a stunning veil.

One dress featured a cowl neck and was paired with a matching jacket with ruffles, while another outfit featured a white lace long sleeve top and matching skirt.

During the day, the Offaly lady donned a pair of white trousers with the words “Mrs O’Donoghue” embroidered above the back pocket.

The best accessory of the weekend, however, had to be the small blow up doll with William’s face on it, wearing a tux. This balloon featured in almost as many pics as the bride to be herself!

Several wives and girlfriends of past and present Limerick hurlers attended the celebrations, including Louise Cantillon, Kayla Arthur and Elaine Kennedy.

Gemma and William are to marry next month with their celebrations set to take place in Cashel Palace.
