Limerick hurlers "buzzing" ahead of new season - John Kiely

THE LIMERICK hurlers are "buzzing" and "really enjoying their work" ahead of the new season, according to their manager John Kiely.
The team will be back in action in just two weeks time when they take on Cork in the 2023 Co-Op Superstores Munster Hurling League.
Prior to the new season starting, John Kiely was a guest on Marty Morrissey's show on RTÉ Radio 1.
Looking ahead to the forthcoming season and the challenges the reigning All-Ireland champions will face, John said of course there will be questions asked on the field.
"They will all be asked on the field and it will be a question of where the answers come from. I have nothing to doubt but that we will have the answers when they are asked. Why would I think otherwise with the group that we have got and what they have been able to do in the last number of years.
"Will it be difficult? I'm sure it will be incredibly difficult, part of the beauty of it all is how difficult it actually is," said John, who is "very much" looking forward to what lies ahead.
The four-time All-Ireland hurling winning manager said they "have done a few weeks previous to Christmas just to get back".
"I must admit the group is buzzing and really enjoying their work, really enjoying being together. I think that's probably the hallmark of our group - how happy they are together as a group and how much they enjoy being together as a group of young hurlers.
"And for me, as long as they have a smile on their face when they have a hurley in their hand they will play well and long may that last as far as I'm concerned," said.
Marty Morrissey praised the team and management on their achievements since 2018.
"John Kiely, you and Limerick have brought a huge hunger and passion and gravitas to the game of hurling. We've enjoyed just watching you guys produce Al-Ireland and Munster hurling championship winning performances and I just want to say thank you for the enjoyment and congratulations and look forward to 2023," said Marty.
