Limerick man aims to live life with ‘no limits’

ENABLE Ireland, a leading charity dedicated to empowering children and adults with disabilities, has launched its annual 'Life With No Limits' campaign.
This campaign aims to provide a platform for individuals using Enable Ireland services to share their life experiences while raising essential funds to support the organisation's vital work.
The campaign, which runs throughout the month of September, seeks to raise over €2 million in funding to meet the costs of delivering their extensive range of services.
For Enable Ireland, these extra funds are crucial, as they provide vital therapy and support services to over 13,000 children and adults with disabilities across the country.
This year's 'Life With No Limits' campaign features Enda Gallagher, a service user attending the Enable Ireland Day Service in Quinn's Cross, Limerick.
Enda has been named one of the campaign's champions, having recently embarked on an exhilarating zip-lining adventure, despite his initial apprehensions.
“I had never been zip-lining before,” he said. “The opportunity came up when I thought, sure why not, I'll give it a go! I didn't even tell my mother before I went!
“I thought to myself, 'I'm 46, if I don't do this now, I'll never do it.' So I gave it a go”.
Enable Ireland's Quinn's Cross staff ensured that Enda's zip-lining experience was safe and accessible. “They organised everything we needed,” he shared.
“They took me out of my wheelchair, helped me to put on all the protective gear and get into the harness. Then hoisted me up to the top of the zip line and off I went!”
Enda's story serves as an inspiration to others as he encourages people to try new things. “My message for this Life With No Limits campaign is don't be scared to try new things. I tried it, and I loved it. I definitely want to do it again in the New Year”.
Supporters of the campaign can contribute in various ways. The public is encouraged to visit Enable Ireland's charity and garden centre on Honan's Quay, Limerick, or support volunteers who will be collecting donations.
Online donations can be made at www.enableireland.ie, or those looking to contribute can drop off quality pre-loved items at any TK Maxx store or Enable Ireland clothing bank.
