A LIMERICK native, 87, was “amazed” to see the 20-foot mural of himself painted on the side of a Limerick house, for the first time, three years after it was unveiled.

St John’s Brass and Reed Band, a Limerick band that has been running for over 150 years, was honoured with a mural in 2020.

The mural is based on a photograph taken in 1958 and features current member and president of the band, Jimmy McCormack, and the late Kevin Greaney.

“I had a big lump in my throat when I saw the same pair of hands playing the same instrument 65 years apart,” said Jimmy’s son, Martin.
