A LIMERICK man has a 'lotto' reasons to smile after scooping €150,000 on a scratchcard he paid just €7 for.

The lucky player bought the All Cash Surprise scratchcard at the Daybreak Store, situated at the Collins and Quinlan service station next to University Hospital Limerick.

Lottery chiefs have just launched the new €7-a-go game, and the local man - who has asked to remain anonymous - is one of four to have won the top prize.

Speaking in the National Lottery’s winners’ room in Dublin, the man explained how he buys one scratchcard at the end of every week as a treat ahead of the weekend.

"I saw the sign for the new All Cash scratch card in the shop and my curiosity got the better of me. It didn’t take long for me to realise I had won the top prize because my winning number came up on the first panel scratch – I thought that there must have been a mistake. Once I called through to the lottery claims department, it was so matter of fact – I’d won €150,000. It’s just incredible," he said.

The man had not told anyone about his big win, but plans to bring the cheque back to his home in Limerick and surprise his family.

"Of course I’ll be spreading the joy with them and looking after them as much as I can. I’ll need to treat myself as well though and I’ve already started planning for a nice holiday to let the win soak in properly,” he added.
