Limerick parish celebrates publication of 35th annual yearbook

“TODAY, in fact, no matter what age you are is the very first day of the rest of your life.”
The words of Fr Dick Browne, Cappamore parish priest, on the opening pages of Ceapach Mhor perfectly encapsulate the 35th edition because the yearbook celebrates local life.
Expertly co-ordinated by Mary Lysaght and Eilis Duggan, of Cappamore Historical Society, it is broken up into history, church news, obituaries, our parish at home and away, pictures, clubs and organisations, schools, verse, wedding bells, bygone days.
The front cover is graced by the Mucalir tug of war in Bristol. And like with those men and women, the pull of Cappamore is strong as everything in Ceapach Mhor has its origins in the proud parish.
One of many scoops is a story by Julie McKay on being on the flight crew of the late Queen and Prince Philip’s final royal state visit to Australia.
Ollie Dillon, president of Cappamore Historical Society, said this year’s offering is as good as any of its predecessors. Ollie tells the story of Dr Thomas William Croke, a stained glass window and the local connection.
Ceapach Mhor is available in Cappamore, Doon, Murroe, Old Pallas, priced at €10.
Main Photo includes Richard Devane, Joan Egan, Julie Hogan, Paddy McCormack, Sheila Campbell, Pat Campbell, Mary O Brien, Pauline Campbell, Ineke Ligthart, Ollie Dillon, Anne McCarthy, Mary Lysaght, Mary T Ryan and Eilis Duggan
