Limerick Person of the Year 2022 to be crowned
THIS THURSDAY an individual or group of individuals who, through their noble endeavours, reflected the very best of Limerick in 2022, will be named the Limerick Person of the Year.
The lunchtime event will be hosted at Limerick's Clayton Hotel and will honour the nominees for their tireless work and dedication.
There are 12 distinguished candidates in the running for the prestigious honour of Limerick Person of the Year which was last year bestowed on Paudcaststar Padraig O'Callaghan.
Thursday's awards ceremony will be compered by RTE's Lorcan Murray and the Limerick Leader's own Meghann Scully.
The annual awards ceremony is sponsored by Limerick Leader, media agency Southern and the Clayton Hotel Limerick.
Áine Fitzgerald, Managing Editor, Limerick Leader said: "The Limerick Leader / Limerick Live team is once again privileged to play a part in the Limerick Person of the Year awards.
"Pride and passion are two words that are synonymous with Limerick and each of the 12 monthly winners of these awards embody that great spirit of Limerick perfectly.
"None of their individual endeavours have been easily achieved but through determination, resilience, passion and a genuine love for what they do they have reached great heights."
Dave O'Hora from Southern added: "Every year we point out the same thing that this is not a competition, these people did not enter. They each did extraordinary things in their own way.
"The person or persons who are chosen today are chosen as a representative of all of the people and all that they have done."
Darren Harding, General Manager, Clayton Hotel Limerick said: "The Clayton Hotel Limerick is once again delighted to host the Limerick Person of the Year awards, one of our favourite events here at the hotel and to see the pride and feel the passion and energy in the hotel on awards day is just fantastic.
"It is wonderful to see such passionate, dedicated and resilient people gathered in one room on one day.
"Each of the nominees set an example to us all of what it is to shine in their communities and we are very lucky to spend time with them and see them shine on awards day".
