A LIMERICK photographer is set to ‘Reach for the Stars’, in a competition of that title.

Sean O’Riordan, an astro-photographer from Castletroy, has been shortlisted in the above competition, which is run by the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS).

Sean, 29, takes photos of space and has a keen interest in astrology.

He has been shortlisted in the Back on Earth category for his image Aurora Pano over the Fishing Hut.

The winning images selected by the judging panel and the public vote will be announced in July. An outdoor exhibition will be staged by DIAS in August to showcase the best images.

CEO and Registrar of DIAS, Dr Eucharia Meehan, said: “I’m looking forward to seeing the online gallery and what this year’s photographers have captured in our night sky.

“I’m so impressed by the level of creativity and skill we have amongst photographers in Limerick, and right across the country.”

June 26 is the closing date. The winning prize includes a VIP tour and a €500 voucher.
