‘Put the blessed ball over the bar’ urges Fr Chris O’Donnell
TOWERING Limerick half back Diarmaid Bryrnes’ iconic phrase from the All-Ireland semi-final has inspired flags, banners, T-shirts, stickers and now a giant sign outside a church.
It features a mock-up of popular priest Fr Chris O’Donnell waving a Limerick flag high in the sky. It has miraculously appeared outside SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kilmallock.
Fr Chris expresses his best wishes to the Limerick team ahead of the All-Ireland final against Galway.
“Put the blessed ball over the bar,” urges Fr Chris.
It is a slightly more politically correct take on Diarmaid’s quote on RTÉ which referred to what was said in the dressing room at half time against Clare.

Meanwhile, a less holy version has appeared on a building in Askeaton (pictured above).
Limerick supporters are hoping that Diarmaid and his teammates put the ball over and, ideally, a couple under the bar this afternoon in Croke Park against Galway.
Every fan will be praying for that!
