Limerick pub evacuated after fire breaks out on roof
Emergency services respond to incident in the early hours of this Sunday morning
A BUSY pub had to be evacuated after a fire broke out on a flat roof, Limerick Live has learned.
The incident occurred at Pharmacia on Sarsfield Street, Limerick city (pictured below) shortly before 1am this Sunday morning.
The decision was immediately made to evacuate the bar as a safety precaution. Three Limerick Fire and Rescue Service appliances and gardai rushed to the scene.
Pharmacia was understood to be especially busy due to the Limerick Pride Festival over the weekend. No injuries have been reported.
A post on Pharmacia’s Instagram page reads: “Our Pride celebrations had to be cut short due to a small fire outside the upstairs venue on the flat roof.
“We took the precaution to clear the place and the fire was quickly dealt with by staff and the brilliant folks at Limerick Fire and Rescue Service.”
Firefighters arrived at 00.52am and remained on site until 2.18am.
Henry Street was closed off at the junction with Sarsfield Street while the matter was being dealt with.
