Limerick schoolgirl raises over €1,000 for homeless

“I JUST don’t like seeing people sleep on the streets,” school girl Sadhbh Feely said after she raised over €1,000 for a Limerick-based homeless charity.
Sadhbh (10), from Knockainey, decided to start a fundraiser for Novas in Limerick city as she wanted to do something for those in need.
“It just makes me feel sad,” Sadhbh said about seeing the struggles of homeless people.
Sadhbh’s fundraiser began just before Christmas last year and involved the selling of baked goods and Christmas tree decorations.
“I had help from my three friend - Ellie, Lucy and Amy - and we sold the goods from a stall in my granny’s garage.
“My grandad carved the decorations, my mam did some weaving and I did some painting,” Sadhbh said.
Sadhbh who is in fourth class at Lough Gur National School, presented Novas with a the money, totalling €1,100, at an event held in Story Café, Hospital.

Mary Bourke, from Hospital, a member of the bridge club, raffled off a prize to members and donated the money to Sadhbh’s cause.
Due to Sadhbh’s achievements, Novas will be taking her out to help some of those who are homeless in Limerick city. “I’ll be going in the van with them and I will be helping them to pass out things to the homeless. I’m very excited to be able to do that.
“When I get older I’d love to be able to help out the homeless in even more ways,” Sadhbh added.
