Limerick sisters' big chop for ill children

TWO LIMERICK sisters, have raised over a thousand euro to help children and young people going through cancer treatment.
Cappamore natives, Laura and Zoe Hammersley, cut their hair in a bid to raise money for Locks of Love – a hair donation fundraiser organised by LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.
After donating her hair to charity a couple of years ago, Laura, who is six and three- quarters, wanted to do it a second time to help children who have lost their hair due to cancer.

Three and three-quarter year old, Zoe had to wait a few weeks for her locks to grow longer and reach 12 inches long.
Their mum, Lisa, commented: “We have done online donations for Laura Lynn, so people have contributed to that, but they don’t take the hair. The hair goes to the Little Princess Trust in the UK, they make wigs for free for kids in the UK and Ireland who have lost their hair due to cancer.
Their hair has gone over to England, but might end up back in Ireland with some little girl or boy, then the money goes to the Laura Lynn Foundation in Ireland.”
The oldest, Laura, is happy to have a new haircut just in time to play in the Whoops-a-Daisy Angel play at Bilboa National School in Limerick.
“I come up four times in the show, but I’m a bit nervous,” the 'star of the show' told the Limerick Leader.
It’s no surprise her favourite subject in school is arts. Speaking of her school, she said: “When my little sister is older, she’s going to go there too.”
It seems talent runs in the family, as Zoe mentions she likes arts too. “I sing, I play, and we have so much fun in my teacher’s school,” said the three and three-quarter year-old.
