Limerick Weather: Monday, August 5, 2024

A CLOUDY and wet start with outbreaks of rain through the morning.

The rain will be heavy at times with the continued possibility of localised flooding. A clearance to sunny spells and isolated showers will follow from the west during the afternoon. Breezy at first with fresh and gusty southerly winds, which will veer westerly as the rain clears and ease. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees, forecasts Met Eireann. 

National Outlook

OVERVIEW: Generally mixed conditions with rain or showers at times but also with good dry and bright periods. Temperatures generally in the high teens or low twenties.

Monday night: Largely dry and clear overnight with just a few light showers possible, mainly in the west. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in mostly light west to southwest winds, fresher near Atlantic coasts.

Tuesday: A day of sunny spells and scattered showers, becoming more isolated in the evening and mostly confined to Atlantic coastal areas. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees with moderate, occasionally fresh southwesterly winds.

Tuesday night: Becoming cloudier from the west overnight with scattered showers, mainly for the western and northern parts with a chance of some longer spells of rain at times. Largely dry elsewhere. Temperatures not falling below 11 to 14 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh southwesterly winds.

Wednesday: A mix of cloud, sunny spells and scattered showers in the morning before the showers become more isolated through the afternoon and evening. However, cloud will build from the west later in the day with some patchy rain and drizzle following. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh southwest to west winds.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain becoming widespread through the morning. The rain will begin to clear from the west through the afternoon and evening followed by showers and some sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees in moderate to fresh south to southwest winds.

Further outlook: Indications are that our weather will continue rather changeable with temperatures generally in the high teens to low twenties.
