Vital service provided by Down Syndrome Limerick

A CLUB supporting young people with Down Syndrome is marking its fifth anniversary.

Down Syndrome Ireland’s Limerick branch set up a youth club five years ago.

It offers a safe space for young people with Down syndrome to engage in meaningful activities, build social connections, and develop essential life skills in a safe and supportive environment.

It facilitates a range of activities designed to enhance social skills, promote physical well-being, and encourage creative expression.

Activities include art, music, first aid training, and specialised programmes like yoga and safety talks with local gardaí.

For families, the youth club is also a valuable lifeline. It provides parents and guardians with peace of mind knowing that their children are in a safe and understanding environment where they can interact with others who share similar experiences.
