The man attempted to explain to the court why he would not sign his bail bond, to which the judge responded: 'I don’t want you to make admissions'
A MAN who refused to sign his own bail bond was brought before Limerick District Court.
Judge Patricia Harney explained to Elvis Chingwaro, that: “In order for me to release you, I need you to sign your bail bond.”
Mr Chingwaro, aged 38, of Chestnut Gardens, Boherbuí, Newcastle West, county Limerick, was charged with refusing to provide a blood or urine specimen at Henry Street garda station on April 9, 2026.
The judge told Mr Chingwaro: “You’re charged with a serious offence.”
The man attempted to explain to the court why he would not sign his bail bond, to which the judge responded: “I don’t want you to make admissions”.
Mr Chingwaro did not have legal representation when he appeared before Limerick District Court.
Judge Harney said: “I don’t know if you understand - to sign the bond is to be free to go.”
Mr Chingwaro then went on to sign the bond, which allowed him to leave custody.
He is due to appear in court again on May 21 next.
