Manager of Limerick store wins prestigious national award
THE BOSS of Castletroy’s branch of Aldi is celebrating after being named the supermarket manager of the year.
Shane Mellett, who manages the popular store at Dublin Road in the city, won the title at the National Grocery Management Awards in the mid-size category.
Mr Mellett has been working in the venue as a trainee store manager since 2008, and leads a team of 44 people.
He said: “Working at Aldi for the past 15 years has been a real pleasure. From day one, Aldi gave me the tools to excel in my role as store manager. As a team, we work extremely hard to ensure the very best shopping experience for our customers, so I am thrilled to have our efforts recognised through this.”
Nationally, Aldi, which operates three stores in Limerick, has also been awarded the trading team award at this year’s grocery management awards, the country’s top scheme for recognising and honouring management excellence.
