'I saw the weather but decided to keep going to Limerick. Aren’t I lucky I did!'

BEST Dressed Lady at the AMCS Limerick Show was announced as Maria Stack, from Ardfert, Co Kerry.

Wearing her “lucky hat” that she made herself, the milliner said she nearly didn’t go to Limerick and was going to stay closer to home.

“I’m lucky that I did come here today, as I was nearly going to the donkey show in Castleisland!,” Ms Stack said.

“I’m absolutely delighted that I came here today. You know when you’re coming down the road and it’s raining and you’re going ‘oh my God, what am I doing!’”

“I saw the weather but decided to keep going to Limerick. Aren’t I lucky I did!”

Ms Stack said that the red hat she wore is one she made herself “years ago”, and was always lucky for her - which proved true, having won a €500 Crescent Shopping Centre voucher and being named Best Dressed Lady on the day.

Ms Stack wore clothes she already owned and made conscious choices when deciding what to wear on the day.

She said: “The cape I’m wearing is by Marion Murphy-Cooney, it’s pre-loved.

“The blouse I’ve had for years and my shoes are Marco Moreo.

“I like a pair of wedge heels when going to a show because of the uneven ground. You need it for comfort for the day.”

A string of coincidences and a hint of good fortune meant that all’s well that ends well for Ms Stack and her lucky hat.
