IT MAY have taken close to 300 years, but the Freemasons in Limerick finally have a building to call their own.
IT MAY have taken close to 300 years, but the Freemasons in Limerick finally have a building to call their own.
Although it will take another year before their new building beside the Bishop’s Palace, King’s Island, is fully finished.
The Freemasons held a special meeting in their new home last Thursday.
In Limerick to see the new building was the head freemason of Ireland, Eric Waller, whose full title is the most worshipful grand master of the most worshipful grand lodge of Freemasons in Ireland. His personal appointee in the Mid West, Jeffrey Ashton, said he is very excited about what the new building represents to the local branch of the Freemasons.
“These are the first premises we’ve ever solely owned in Limerick and since 1732 we’ve held our meetings in rented premises.”
