Motorist stopped on busy Limerick road banned for drug driving

A COUNTY Limerick man was disqualified from driving for one year after he was convicted of drug driving almost a year ago.
John Brosnahan, aged 30, of Knockamare, Tournafulla pleaded guilty at Newcastle West Court to the offence.
Garda Errol Flynn of the divisional Roads Policing Unit gave evidence of stopping Mr Brosnahan who was driving a vehicle on the N21 at Killeheen, Newcastle West on May 28, 2022.
The investigating garda said there was “evidence of drugs” and the court heard a subsequent blood test confirmed the presence of cannabis in Mr Brosnahan' system.
Appealing for leniency, Solicitor Michael O’Donnell said it was his client’s first time before the court.
Judge Carol Anne Coolican convicted Mr Brosnahan and she disqualified him from driving for one year.
She also fined him €500.
