New Limerick Chamber president elected

Chamber places ‘Trust’ in financial company executive
A SENIOR vice-president at finance firm Northern Trust, based at Ballysimon, has been elected Limerick Chamber president.
Noel Gavin takes over from solicitor Miriam O’Connor.
He said he is “truly honoured” to step into the role.
“This opportunity to lead and work closely with the talented team at the Chamber is one I embrace wholeheartedly," he said.
“We have some key projects in the pipeline that are very close to my heart. These initiatives will not only benefit our members but also the wider business community. I firmly believe in the Chamber's purpose and the impactful role we play in the region's economic and social development.”
One of his first duties of his tenure has been to inform members of the departure of the business group’s chief executive Dee Ryan.
It comes as she was formally nominated by Fianna Fail as its candidate in the election for Limerick’s directly elected mayor.
He wrote: “We wish Dee all the best in her future beyond the Chamber. I will be working closely with the Chamber team and our Board to ensure Limerick Chamber continues to support our members and deliver on the mission of the organisation.”
Mr Gavin also expressed his “deepest gratitude” to Ms O’Connor following her year as president of the largest business representative organisation in the region.
Speaking on her time in the role, Ms O’Connor said: “Leading Limerick Chamber has been an extraordinary journey, one that allowed me to contribute to initiatives that have shaped our business landscape.

"From the pivotal energy on the estuary follow-up in Foynes, to the insightful city centre report and the successful inauguration of the Limerick Chamber Golf Classic, we have embarked on endeavours that not only celebrated our collective spirit but also propelled us towards a future of innovation and resilience.”
As part of her year in office, her president’s award, given out in November, went to Limerick senior hurling manager John Kiely.
“As Noel steps into this role, I am confident in the Chamber's continued prosperity and impact under his guidance,” she added.
Looking forward, Mr Gavin is committed to building on these successes and spearheading new projects that align with the Chamber's mission to support and promote business growth in Limerick.
“Our focus remains on delivering value to our members, advocating for the business community's needs, and contributing to the prosperity of our region. I am excited for what the future holds and am committed to working collaboratively towards our shared goals,” he added.
