THE NEW regional executive officer (REO) of the new HSE Mid-West health region will be on a salary of over €200,000.

Sandra Broderick is the REO for the Mid-West region and has been in the post since last December when the chief executive of the HSE Mr Bernard Gloster announced her as the first of six new HSE leaders.

REOs are responsible and accountable for regional health and social care services.

According to a spokesperson for the HSE, Ms Broderick operates on a pay scale, with yearly increments. The starting point of the salary is: €217,325. The salary scale for REOs can rise to €261,051 after six years.

Under HSE plans, REOs were to assume responsibility for their new roles from March 1.

However, the CEO, Mr Gloster, decided to proceed earlier in the Mid-West region.

“Our many fine staff and services there will benefit from the additional support and oversight management,” Mr Gloster said in a statement late last year.

Prior to this role, Ms Broderick was the HSE’s assistant national director responsible for services for older people.

She has experience in health and social care service delivery both internationally and in Ireland.
