Over €5,000 worth of equipment stolen from Limerick shed

Gardaí are investigating the incident
GARDAÍ are investigating after over €5,000 worth of equipment was stolen from a shed in Limerick.
Overnight between Wednesday, February 21 and Thursday, February 22 a shed was broken into in Ballyneety.
The owner of the shed discovered that the lock on a gate and the lock on the shed door had been cut.
An Ifor Williams trailer, a power washer and a generator were taken, the total value was over €5,000
Sergeant Ber Leetch, crime prevention officer at Henry Street garda station gave advice to people on how to protect their possessions.
"When you are buying security items to protect your property, calculate what is ten to twenty percent of the value of the property and expect to pay that to protect it.
"There are many layers of security available for sheds like CCTV, alarms, sensor lighting, good quality locks and bolts. When it comes to tools and equipment, consider getting your property marked with your eircode, this makes it more difficult to sell on.
"It is all about money so these and any other tools stolen will be sold on for cash, it is about supply and demand.
"What concerns me is the amount of people who use this type of equipment or tools are the ones that purchase it in suspicious circumstances. Only make your purchases from a legitimate source.
"If you are offered items under any other circumstances remember this could be stolen property. Refuse to buy it and report the incident to your local garda station, as long as people are willing to buy stolen goods the thefts will continue."
