GARDAÍ have issued a warning to the public after a parcel was stolen in Limerick.

On Thursday, February 29 at 10:20am, a woman in her 60s was in the post office preparing to post a small parcel.

She accidentally left the package on the counter and left. A few minutes later, she realised that she had not actually posted the parcel into the post box and returned to the post office.

The parcel was gone but as there is excellent CCTV in the area gardaí are certain to identify a suspect.

Sergeant Ber Leetch, crime prevention officer at Henry Street garda station said: "My concern is how easy it is to make a mistake if we are rushing around.

"Take a moment to make sure that you have taken care of your business and have all of your property well secured before you rush off. Criminals are always on the lookout for a chance to steal from you."
