STUDENTS at a Limerick secondary school recently took part in a road safety awareness programme run by An Garda Síochana.
Garda Sarah Durack of Road Policing at Henry Street garda station presented the Lifesaver Project to students of Castletroy College.
This presentation shows advertisements from around the world that highlight the impact and devastation that collisions have on both the individual that was involved, and also on the families of those that have been affected.
There are personal stories from a mother who has tragically buried two of her sons and a father who was left with life changing injuries. This is the harsh reality of what has happened and is happening on our roads today.
All of these stories are aimed at changing the attitude of the student or persons at the presentation.
This programme will undoubtedly have students asking questions, rethinking their choices and actions on our roads, and realising that anything can happen in the blink of an eye.
