GARDAI welcomed over 100 transition year students from Scoil Pól, Kilfinane to Bruff garda station as part of their Garda Schools Courts Module - a new educational initiative between Garda Dino Wilkinson and teacher Catriona O’Dea.  The focus of the day was processing an accused person. The TY group was split into two with one half being ‘processed’ and the other half learning about road safety as part of The Lifesaver Project. Scoil Pól thanked the gardai in Bruff for such an eye-opening and informative day. Garda Wilkinson, Garda Edel Moloney and Garda Lisa Barry had previously visited Scoil Pól about the Garda Schools Courts Module. The third part of the project will be a visit to Kilmallock Court to prosecute the case. County Limerick-based Garda Inspector Gearóid Thompson praised the work of Garda Wilkinson, Garda Moloney and Garda Barry in their very professional and well-received presentation in the school and at Bruff garda station. “We have a number of gardai across our functional area very busily engaged at this time of year giving school students talks before the summer vacation.  “We are grateful for the energy and commitment they give to this important part of our duty in line with our mission statement of ‘Keeping People Safe’,” said Insp Thompson. He also thanked all the schools who afford gardai the time to speak with their students and give advice to them on such topics as drugs, road safety, online safety, public order and many more.
