WHILE the sun has shone brightly on the farming community in West Limerick - in between heavy rain, a new play set on a farm will be going to slightly darker horizons in its exploration of love, life and isolation.

Twenty Minutes from Nowhere tells the story of a young man living in an isolated rural setting. He is torn between familial obligations to the farm and the desire for a meaningful relationship. Even in a world where so much connection is possible and more liberal ideas prevail, there is no guarantee of finding love.

Eoin O'Sullivan gives a stellar and nuanced performance in portraying the dilemmas facing this young man. The play premiered at Bewley's Café Theatre in November 2021. Written by Chris Kelly, who is also co-director with Martha Fitzgerald, it is described as a "powerful play in its exploration of LGBTQ issues", according to Glórach director of drama, Therese Prenderville.

"It's a rare chance to catch a play of this calibre in the Abbeyfeale area," she added.

The performance will be followed by a post-performance talkback with the creative team along with staff members from GOSHH (Gender, Orientation, Sexual Health, HIV), a Limerick based charity.

The play takes place at the Glórach Theatre, Abbeyfeale as part of Pride Month on Saturday June 24 at 7.30 pm. Tickets are €15 and can be booked at 0871383940 or www.glorachabbeyfeale.com
