MUNSTER Rugby’s head coach, Graham Rowntree, has said that he would love if Limerick hurler Cian Lynch could join his team.

After their enormous URC win back in May, Rowntree stated that “to be up there with the hurlers and to bring a trophy home to this extremely sporting county is incredible”.

The former England international walked past Cian on O’Connell Street after Limerick won their fourth All-Ireland title in-a-row and admitted that Cian had no idea who he was.

Speaking after Munster Rugby were named Limerick Persons of the Month, Graham said: “I got a bit embarrassed by it all, he was probably wondering who this guy was with huge ears saying well done to him on the street!

“I like everything he stands for, the way he plays the game and the way he carries himself, he is an incredible athlete.”

Like many other people across the county, Rowntree has gotten into his hurling, given the success of the Limerick team.

Speaking to the Limerick Leader after he accepted the award, Graham said that he and the team are “very proud” of the city they represent, where their home stadium is located.

“We were happy to bring home the trophy to Limerick so this Person of the Month award means a lot to us all”.

The former Leicester Tigers loosehead prop is hoping for more of the same from his Munster squad when their season gets underway with a pre-season game against Leinster on September, 8.

“We have a real depth in our squad that we haven't seen before so I am looking forward to seeing those guys coming through”.

Meanwhile, Cian Lynch is back in action for his club Patrickswell in the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship.
