THE BON Secours Children's Run for Fun is back in Limerick.

This is a non competitive event open to children aged 5 - 13 years old and it is suitable for all standards with various distances to choose from.

The day begins with a wheelchair run in the University of Limerick running track at 2.30pm with Sarah O’Sullivan CEO Bon Secours Hospital Limerick stating: “As a healthcare provider we are keen to promote healthy activity amongst the people of the Mid-West.

“Introducing non-competitive fun activities such as the ‘Run for Fun’ at an early stage in children’s lives can have such a positive outcome to their wellbeing, confidence and their development”.

This family friendly event falls on Riverfest weekend which is the May Bank Holiday and is worth around €5 million to the local economy from hotels, restaurants, taxis and general footfall across the city and Sliabh Wells, Event Director added that: “we are really looking forward to witnessing the excitement on the starting line”.

Run for Fun takes place on Saturday, April 29 at the University of Limerick.

On April 30, the Regeneron Great Limerick Run takes place in the City with a marathon, half marathon and 6 mile race.

At the launch of GLR, Mayor Francis Foley revealed that “an excess of 14,000 people will be participating on the day in the Great Limerick Run and what a great boost for the City and the County”.
