St Patrick's Day parades right across county Limerick

No fewer than 16 celebrations to mark Ireland's national day
NO FEWER than 16 parades will take place across Limerick city and county this weekend to mark St Patrick’s Day 2025.
From Kilmallock’s parade, which kicks off at 1pm on Sunday, March 16, to Abbeyfeale’s spectacle which will round off the celebrations at 4pm on Monday, March 17, there will be a splash of green in communities across Limerick as people enjoy Ireland’s national day to the max!
Paralympic medallist, swimmer Róisín Ní Ríain from Drombanna, is set to make a splash as she leads out Limerick city’s annual St Patrick’s Day parade.
This year’s spectacle promises tonnes of family fun as Jazzville Productions bring their ‘Most Dangerous Animal’ performance to life.
There will be other popular acts including the aerial dance troupe Fidget Feet, and the Polish Arts Festival.
Meanwhile, hundreds of local participants will also take part in the spectacle.
There’s so much more free family fun in Limerick across the weekend.
On Saturday at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, Cruises Street will play host to ‘A Snail’s Tale', a piece of street theatre telling an unforgettable, entertaining and sometimes surreal story of imaginary creatures once only found in monkish doodles.
After Monday’s parade, outside Merchant’s Quay, a family-friendly post-parade block party will take place.
It will be a red letter day for the village of Hospital, whose community will hold its first St Patrick’s Day parade, kicking off at noon.
In Limerick’s county town of Newcastle West, the parade will get under way at 3pm on the previous day, Sunday March 16.
It will be led by the Newcastle West fire brigade’s brand new fire truck.
From 1pm, The Square will see a host of market stalls with food and crafts, street entertainment, live music and fun for little ones and grown-ups alike.
They will be able to avail of free face painting, games and Play Time with Bubbles the clown!
While Abbeyfeale will bring the curtain down on Limerick’s St Patrick’s celebrations, the town has a packed weekend of festivities planned.
It all kicks off with a concert and card games on Friday night, a tag rugby tournament on Saturday, busking, afternoon tea and a slow motorbike race on the Sunday.
Entertainment on Monday kicks off at 1pm, ahead of the parade at 4pm.
Sadly, it is forecast to rain on St Patrick's Day itself - but that is unlikely to spoil the fun in Limerick.
