Students make an unusual entrance to a Limerick city pub on college Christmas Day

Senior Limerick garda chief appeals to students to ‘enjoy their day in a peaceful and respectful manner’
STUDENTS were spotted clambering over the fence to get into one Limerick city pub this Wednesday for college Christmas Day.
Videos circulated online of groups of students clad in Christmas jumpers using an alternative route to gain entry into a riverside Limerick pub.
The measures some were taking to gain entry were cause for concern, as the unofficial route was on the banks of the River Shannon.
The proprietor of the pub said: “It is one of the busiest days of the year. We don't recommend coming in the back of the pub or climbing over the rail due to health and safety.”
Chief Superintendent Smart spoke to Limerick Live, appealing for students to “enjoy their day in a peaceful and respectful manner”.
“We have extra patrols out and about tonight, if students are concerned about anything or anyone, they can engage with members [of the gardaí],” he said.
“If they see something and they are not comfortable with it, let them know, say it”.
