The Coronas share memories of 'great fun' in Limerick ahead of launch album Dolans gig

Brand new album Thoughts & Observations launch party to take place on September 30
“THERAPEUTIC, mature and optimistic” are the three words The Corona’s main singer Danny O’Reilly and drummer Conor Egan used to describe their new album, which they are set to perform in Limerick.
To celebrate the release of The Coronas’ brand new album Thoughts & Observations, the band has teamed up with Golden Discs for a very special mini-tour of launch shows.
They are playing in Dolans on Monday, September 30. Audiences must pre-order the band’s new album to get access to tickets for the launch show, where the public will get to meet the band and get albums signed after the ‘intimate’ gig.
Reflecting on their memories of performing and staying in Limerick which both Danny and Conor describe as a “great spot”, the band members spoke of their time spent in the city.
“We’ve had some amazing gigs over the years there, in Dolans, it has always been an important venue for our career and a big part of The Coronas journey,” Danny said.
“The very first gig we played there was upstairs, there were around 30 or 40 people which we have good memories of.”
Conor added: “We have always had a great relationship with Mick and Neil Dolan. There is always great food and they look after the bands, a lovely dressing room upstairs and fun memories after shows and it’s a great venue - we love it.”
Reminiscing on other memories, Danny elaborated on their time spent in the city.
“We were really nicely welcomed the first time we came to Limerick, when we were lucky to have sold 30 tickets - I remember playing the warehouse in Dolans was such a big gig for us and then we went on to the Milk Market and more recently, King John’s Castle,” Danny said.
“There are a few funny stories and the dressing room upstairs in Dolans is infamous for us - there was a time I was really sick going on stage, I was so sick and we had to bring a doctor down.
“There was a bucket on the side of the stage just in case I vomited during the show! But I managed to get a shot that kept me together, just about.”
Labelling the nightlife in Limerick as “great fun”, the two spoke of what they get up to post-Limerick gigs, saying that they “usually stay at the Clayton, down at the Docklands.”
“We always go to Myles Breens, there is great Guinness in there!,” Danny said.
“We have been into House a couple of times as well and when we were a bit younger, there were a few nightclubs around.. We used to go to the Trinity Rooms!”
However, this time The Coronas visit, Danny and Conor said “unfortunately”, they “won’t get a chance” to go out in Limerick because it is one of a week-long tour around the country,
“We’re just trying to get people down and to sign albums,” Danny said.
“We will play mainly new stuff but will play some of the old stuff too - it’s definitely going to be a different vibe than usual, it’s a shorter set and we get to meet the crowds at it.”
To gain entry to the launch party in Limeick, go to this link, pre-order a physical copy of the album to get a ticket.
Those who have already pre-ordered a physical copy of the album should receive an email from Golden Discs about how they can add a ticket to their existing order.
