Thief steals number of keys from Limerick home
A THIEF made off with house and car keys after entering a Limerick home through an unlocked door.
The incident happened on Wednesday, September 6 just before midnight in Castleconnell.
A man in his early 20s heard a noise and when he went to investigate he disturbed another male who had walked in through an unlocked side door.
This thief managed to grab house and car keys that were on the hall table and run before the young man could do anything.
Sergeant Ber Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street garda station said all of the house locks have to be changed and the car is vulnerable to theft as a thief has the car keys.
"I am often asked what is the best crime prevention tip I could give somebody and even though this sounds obvious, the best tip is to lock your windows and doors.
"One in six thieves get into a home through an unlocked window or door".
