‘Tizzy’ and friends: Research released into language delay

Researchers from Mary Immaculate College and Tizzy Puppet (held by Mary Moloney, research team) at the release of an evaluation of the Early Talk Boost Programme.
Early Talk Boost is a nine-week prevention and early intervention programme for children aged between three and four years old that experience language delay.
The Early Talk Boost Programme is an inter-agency project being run in conjunction with HSE speech and language therapists.
The independent evaluation was conducted by a team of researchers from Mary Immaculate College.
Research has shown that language and communication are critical to a child’s development, and that speech and language difficulties may extend into adulthood, without intervention.
Language development also supports and sets the pace for both formal and informal learning, and is one of the best predictors for educational achievement and life chances.
